things i said i'd never do.

today i made a twitter account. i'm still not sure how i feel about this decision. i always said i never would make one, but at work today, boredom and curiosity got the better of me. i still do not get it, but my dear friend kevin holt helped me out a little bit and gave me a little intro to twitter.

also, i have my race in 2 days. i am a little nervous cause it is at altitude and i have just been training down here in denver, but hopefully it will be ok. i also twisted my ankle and gave myself a mild sprain on monday's run. of course that would happen, ya? injuries aside, i'm planning on running the whole thing. hopefully my lungs hold up! i've been drinking so much water and gatorade/powerade. wowza! i have pee a lot. but at least i'm well hydrated.

unrelatedly, this is the funniest thing i've ever seen, but it's also based on the most disturbing idea for a movie ever, so while watching it, prepare yourself:

my bad.

having a blog is like having a new toy. at first, it's really exciting and you can't wait to play with it and use the crap out of it. then, as time goes on, you forget about it. story of my summer and my blog. oops, sorry!

update: half marathon on SATURDAY. less than a week. i'm scared but excited! i ran 11 miles one day last week as my last long run. i'm a little scared because i got really sick after my run, but i think it was because i was super dehydrated. during the run i felt really good. i had been having knee pain but it didn't make an appearance during my 11-miler. YES! i'm running a few short runs this week (6 miles tomorrow and 3 on wednesday) and then walking two on friday. CAN'T WAIT!

then the next day is the dave matthews band show... oh em gee. i will be peeing my pants. it will be my 4th time seeing dave!!! dmb is my hero band. i don't even know if that is a thing, but it is now.

other developments: katie and i decided where we are going to travel after oxford! lisbon, portugal to seville, spain to barcelona, spain, to amsterdam, the netherlands, then brussels, belgium, to bruges, belgium. then we will head to prague or vienna to meet up with my parents! YESSSSSSSSSSS i cannot wait.

in other news, this summer has been amazing. i have had so much fun with my friends and i wish that they could all go to school with me. we've had some really great times, including a trip to jackson lake to go waterskiing, a weekend in vail, trivia every wednesday at mellow mushroom, and some random fun nights of movies, drinks, and lots of laughs. i'm bummed this is our last real summer. i'm not ready for real life!

oops.

oh hey, blog! it's been a while.

and i don't really remember my mileage amounts exactly and which days, but since i last wrote a blog entry, i have run a few 3 and 4-milers, a 5-miler, and a 6-miler. i'm starting to feel more and more ready for this half. i am actually really excited for it. one of my good friends from home is also going to run it with me, so it will be really fun!

on an unrelated topic, isn't it strange when you meet someone and realize that you actually share something in common? it makes you realize what a small world it is. on thursday night, my friends and i hung out with a friend who goes to the university of denver and went out to the bars in that area. all of his roommates came along with us. i ended up meeting and talking with one who i thought was quite cute. we were talking for a while and somehow realized that we went to elementary school together. he was a year older than me and i didn't remember him, but his mother was one of the TAs who worked at the school and i remember her vividly.

it is a small, small world. life is weird and crazy and sooo interesting. i love that no matter where you are, you can probably find a connection to someone. so cool.

update.

first things first, i HATE the lakers. hate. hate. HATE. i can't believe they are now champs. ugh. i gave myself an ulcer stressing while watching the game. all for nothing. they're such douches. all of them.

hopefully the us beats slovenia tomorrow in soccer, that will make me feel a little better.

anyway, on the bright side, i am feeling pretty good about my training. here's the update on my run totals for the past week:
friday, june 11: 4 miles
saturday, june 12: rest day
sunday, june 13: 5 miles
monday, june 14: 3 miles
tuesday, june 15: rest day
wednesday, june 16: 4.5 miles
today, thursday, june 17: 3 miles.

woo i feel like i can actually do this. i have a 6-miler coming up on saturday and i am starting to actually feel ready for it. it's a big step for me, it's almost half of the total i'll be running. wooo!

embarrassing.

work has proven to be interesting this week. here it goes:

monday i started my work. tuesday i went in and fainted an hour into work. so embarrassed. wednesday i still felt shitty so i didn't work. today, thursday, i came in only to find that no one was there. turns out they're all at a retreat this weekend and since i was sick yesterday i didn't hear about it. and i was planning on going in tomorrow, friday, but they'll still be at the retreat.

work is just the worst. and it's now confusing as well.

tuesday, june 8 and wednesday, june 9 i was sick so i took them as rest days.
today, thursday, june 10: 3 miles.

progress.

mileage counts for my training:

friday, june 4: 3 miles
saturday, june 5: rest
sunday, june 6: 4 miles
monday, june 7: 3 miles

altitude is kicking my ass.

in other news, i started work today. ugh, back to the daily grind. why do we have to work to make money? can't it just appear or something?

whoa.

i decided to run a half marathon on august 14. this means it is a little over two months away and i have only 9ish weeks to train. ah! i think i may be crazy, but it will be fun and something to keep me busy this summer. i decided to keep a training journal on my blog. that way i feel like i'm being held accountable.

today, thursday june 3: 2.5 miles.

get ready, this is going to be a little crazy and exciting!
